Welcome to our new Americorps Member!
Jon Sharp recently began working with the Knoxville Regional Bicycle Program where he will be assisting with several ongoing programs. He is here as an Americorps member, and will be working with the program and assisting other projects with the TPO and Smart Trips over the next year.
Jon came to Knoxville after interning with the City of Pittsburgh Department of City Planning and teaching English in Madrid, Spain for two years. He has a strong background in planning and is passionate about alternative transportation. While in Pittsburgh he worked with the Bicycle and Pedestrian Office to help bring a bikeshare program to the city. That project was of particular interest to him after completing his senior project, a bikeshare feasibility study, at Michigan State University.
Jon grew up in Kentucky and Michigan and later graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Urban and Regional Planning. He currently lives about a mile away from his office in downtown Knoxville and has committed to living without a car this year, getting around solely on his bike. In his down time, he can be found playing tennis, practicing Spanish, and running. He is currently training for the Bourbon Chase, a 200-mile relay race along the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky.
